WHY is critique and advice "bad"? I legimately don't understand. It's hard for me to grasp the concept behind the statements I read far too often.
For example: "I do not want your opinion"
"Do not critique me unless I ask you to"
"You are rude for giving me advice"
"It's my style, and thus you're not entitled to say anything about it."
"I only take positive feedback"
Maybe I am just a weird person, but I cannot understand why it's a bad thing. Why I'm being told (on more than couple occasions) that I am "rude" for giving minor critique, because I want to see people improve.
To me it was always OBVIOUS that if you're on an art-site, and you share your art -> you'll get critique, and it should be taken.
I just recently really realized that it apparently isn't obvious which is why I put a disclaimer about it on my front page. You're welcome.
One more thing: I was once told, as a response to a critique that "Not everyone's art is a good as yours"
I'm not going to say who it was, but to that person, if they read this:
Thankyou for thinking my art is good.
I honestly don't think it is, and I know I have still many things to improve on. Which is why I, too, need criticism. Brutal and blunt to be precise.
Even if someone THINKS they would be in a different skill level, I think you should still be able to tell your opinioj, give advice and so on no matter your age, your skill level, or such.
Quite frankly someone being "better" or "worse" doesn't excuse you for not taking feedback that could help you improve, and that wasn't meant to be taken as an insult.
